Zune Originals is a collection of 27 original works by 18 international artists designed to be engraved onto the back of the device. On the Zune Originals site, launching tomorrow (13 November 2007), visitors will be able to customize their Zune by size, color, illustration and with up to four optional lines of text—all free of charge, at least for the time being.

Basically, they’ve partnered with a bunch of artists from all over the world to create 27 original, laser-etched designs that you can add to any Zune you buy. There’s also a Tattoo Series that includes your choice of 20 graphics, which you can combine with up to three lines of text on a Zune. The laser-etching is free for a limited time with the 80GB Zune ($250), 8GB Zune ($200), and 4GB Zune ($150)

People who order their zune from Zune.net, will have the added bonus of being able to customize their zune. This will include colour, up to five lines of custom text, and the choice of 25 preset logos that they can have etched into their zune prior to delivery.
